Housing Stability - The Data
Data Source: American Community Survey 2017-2021
Housing - Context
We are working on housing stability because it is the major issue facing Routt County residents who seek to live and work here.
We define housing instability as paying more than 30% of household income on rent or a mortgage. It is a key predictor if an individual or family has enough money left for other necessities such as food, clothing, transportation, child and medical care.
Currently, many Routt County residents do not have stable housing. The situation is especially bad for those who are middle- or low-income. In Routt County, 51.7% of households making less than $75,000 are housing cost-burdened.
